US hyper-realism painter Marilyn Minter's work is detailed perfection. It is so realistic the viewer at first thinks they are photographs! Her large scale work is based on her own photography, on abstract fragmented segments of the human body. Minter explores themes around sensuality, feminity and commercialism by creating imagest that look like they are direct from glossy fashion magazines, her use of shinny enamel paint and her frequent emphasis on shoes, jewellery, makeup etc.
